The success of Kids Vision for Life is realized in its program outcomes, as well as through broad community support and recognition. Nationally, in a total of 15 territories and over 1,000 schools, Kids Vision for Life has provided more than 417,300 screenings, 120,000 eye exams and 105,700 new prescription glasses to children in need since its creation. EVF was honored to be nominated for the second consecutive year for UnitedHealthcare’s Shining Light Award (finalist in 2013 and awarded in 2014). The Shining Light Award recognizes programs nationwide that demonstrate excellence in social responsibility by addressing important health or other basic needs in society. In Dallas, former Superintendent of Schools for Dallas Independent School District, Mike Miles, recognized EVF with the 2013 Superintendent’s Award for the organization’s outstanding ongoing support through Kids Vision for Life Greater Dallas. Kids Vision for Life St. Louis was honored in May 2014 with a What’s Right with the Region! Award from FOCUS St. Louis for “Demonstrating Innovative Solutions.” Nationwide, EVF has become a recognized leader in serving the vision needs of youth in the community through Kids Vision for Life.
