Kids Vision for Life St. Louis (KVFL STL) began its collaboration in 2009 with Crown Vision Center, St. Louis Public School District, Area Resources for Community and Human Services (ARCHS) and the College of Optometry at The University of Missouri-St. Louis in a local effort to provide vision services to area schools. As of 2017, fourteen districts are served by KVFL STL: St. Louis Public Schools, Riverview Gardens, Jennings, Ferguson-Florissant, Bayless, Normandy, Maplewood Richmond Heights, Hancock Place, Ritenour, Pattonville, Affton, Saint Charles, Valley Park, University City as well as several parochial and charter schools in the area.
During the 2015-16 school year, Kids Vision for Life-STL screened over 30,000 students at 132 middle and elementary schools. The KVFL-STL team performed 4,247 exams and dispensed 3,737 new prescription glasses to St. Louis area students at no cost.
