Launched in 2014, Kids Vision for Life Central Texas (Kids Vision for Life-CTX) began its collaborative effort in the greater Austin to provide vision services to area schools. Upon completion of its first full school year, Kids Vision for Life-CTX has provided screenings for 8,266 students, performed 2,905 eye exams, and dispensed 2,560 pairs of new prescription eyeglasses to low-income students at no cost to the student’s family. MC
KVFL-CTX is partnering with E3 Alliance and Seton Healthcare Family to conduct an innovative, longitudinal study of the impact of vision correction on academic performance. This study is an unique opportunity to analyze student level data over six years to determine whether students show improvement in test scores, behavior and attendance after receiving prescription glasses.
